Class DescriptionsSwim Team A, 3:30-4:30 M-FSwim Team A (10 and Under) practice four days a week with a competitive meet against other club teams on Tuesdays or Thursdays. While this is a competitive team there is an emphasis on fun and team spirit. Events in freestyle, back, breast, butterfly and relays by age group. Swim lessons in addition to swim team are required for all competitors in both the 8 & under and 10 & under age groups. Swim team runs the full 8 weeks of the program. Swim Team B, 4:30-6:00 M-FSwim Team B (11 and older) practice four days a week with a competitive meet against other club teams on Tuesdays or Thursdays. While this is a competitive team there is an emphasis on fun and team spirit. Events in freestyle, back, breast, butterfly and relays by age group. Swim lessons in addition to swim team are strongly encouraged. Swim team runs the full 8 weeks of the program. Beginner, 10:00 - 10:30 M-FBeginner swimming class introduces the new swimmer to the water in a safe and comfortable way. As students gain confidence they will be introduced to some basic skills: totally submerging their head, blowing bubbles, front and back float, gliding. Dependent on ability, basic strokes will be introduced. Minimum age is 4 yrs old. Advanced Beginner, 10:30 - 11:00 M-FAdvanced Beginner Swimming continues developing the skills introduced in the beginner class. Skills taught: rhythmic breathing, float and glide, stroke refinement, introduction to breaststroke, treading water, kneel diving. This class includes an introduction to ocean safety. Intermediate 11:00 - 11:30, 1:30 - 2:00 or 2:00 - 2:30 M-FIntermediate swimming will have three levels to accommodate different abilities. The head instructor is responsible for the placement of each student into the appropriate class during the first days of each session. The class will continue to refine stroke techniques in backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle and butterfly. Diving and distance swimming will be introduced in this class. 3 levels of intermediate are offered. Placement will be determined the first week by the instructor. Advanced Swim, 2:30 - 3:15 M-FAdvanced swim class focuses on stroke technique and endurance. Alternate breathing, diving, kick techniques are all part of the instruction. Water safety, including survival swim/float/treading are also introduced. One class will be devoted to ocean safety each session.
